Nobel Energy to deliver accurate onshore wind measurements

28.07.2022

Nobel Energy’s newly secured Light Detection and Ranging (Lidar) device will help effectively manage onshore wind measurements up to 200 metres above the ground.

This powerful device (ZX300 Lidar), widely used across the renewable energy domain, is approved by DNV, an international accredited registrar and classification society, and certified by International Electrotechnical Commission.

Nobel Energy has now the capacity to provide a range of relevant technical services, required in the planning, building, and operating of renewable energy sourced power plants. The device will allow to manage wind resource risk and optimise assets.

It is worth to mention that the Lidar is regarded as the most effective, Stage 3 bankable device in DNV (also a globally leading quality assurance and risk management company operating in more than 100 countries) assessment of the maturity of remote sensing devices.

Can Aslan, Renewable projects manager, Nobel Energy: “The Lidar is an effective onsite wind measurement tool, specifically for wind farm development, site construction, including site and project operations, annual energy production analysis, as well as for other weather monitoring activities”. He added: “The device, which absolute accuracy demonstrated through wind tunnel testing, reduces the wind measurement uncertainty and therefore, increases project and design value”.

This development is in line with Nobel Energy’s transformation strategy aimed to provide clean energy solutions (through increasingly growing the renewables business line) to help its customers [and the world] achieve safe, efficient and sustainable energy results.

ZX 300 Lidar’s brief

  • Remotely measures the wind from 10 to 200+ metres above ground.
  • Reduces your measurement uncertainty by measuring higher than a met mast and by mobilising measurements across a whole site.
  • Allows better management of health and safety requirements on site with no need to work at height.
  • Flexible within your planning applications by using a low visual impact, low height device.
  • Lets to start a measurement campaign tomorrow with little or no site preparation or planning permits required.
  • IEC Classified to IEC 61400-12-1: 2017.
